17th Forum of the World Association for Political Economy (WAPE)
Theme: “Navigating the Tides: Young Scholars’ Perspectives on Political
Economy vs Economics in a Turbulent Multipolar World” August 2-4, 2024, Panteion University, Athens, Greece.

The World Association for Political Economy (WAPE), in collaboration with the Greek Association of Political Economy (GAPE) and hosted by Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, is pleased to announce a dedicated Young Scholars’ Stream at the 17th WAPE Forum, taking place from August 2 to 4, 2024, in Athens, Greece.

Background: Amidst significant economic, social, and political upheavals, the debate between Political Economy and mainstream Economics has gained renewed
importance. This year’s forum aims to critically examine these two divergent traditions in the context of contemporary global challenges, as detailed in the main conference call for papers.

Call for Young Scholars: We are particularly eager to provide a platform for young scholars, including advanced graduate or PhD students and early-career researchers, to contribute to this vital conversation. The Young Scholars’ Stream is an essential part of our forum, designed to showcase the innovative work of the next generation of researchers. This stream offers an unparalleled opportunity for young researchers to engage with senior scholars, contribute to the advancement of Political Economy, and network with peers from around the globe.

Topics of Interest: While we welcome submissions across the broad spectrum of Political Economy, we are especially interested in papers that respond to the themes and questions raised in the main conference call for papers, reflecting a young scholar’s perspective on the broad theme of “Political Economy vs Economics in a turbulent multipolar world.” Please find the full list in the central 17th WAPE Forum Call for Papers. Contributions that explore any of the indicative areas mentioned in the main CFP or that introduce new insights and methodologies in Political Economy are encouraged.

Submission Guidelines: The WAPE 17 Forum paper submission’s deadline has now closed.
